Why this site exists
A trade van can combine personal journeys, a regular workplace, several sites, tools, stock, customer property and deliveries. A product name or an occupation may hide that complexity. The checklist keeps those facts separate and produces questions for the service or current insurer.
It is intentionally narrower than a comparison form. We do not collect identifying information, calculate a price, score risk, rank insurers, claim that any route will accept the user, or state that a particular policy covers tools or goods.
Research-derived reader situations
- A self-employed tradesperson starting work
- Trigger: buying or changing a van for site work. Their task is to describe journeys, tools, stock and drivers before a comparison. The commercial link is only relevant after the facts are ready.
- A small business renewing after a change
- Trigger: a renewal notice, a new driver, different parking or a changing load. Their first action may be the current insurer rather than a new comparison.
- A merchant transporting goods
- Trigger: delivery of stock, installation work or customer property. Their task is to separate ownership, purpose and payment and ask which questions apply. This is a research-derived pattern, not a customer interview.
How sources are used
Official sources are used for general legal or regulator context. Product and comparison pages are used only for the questions, definitions or processes that those organisations describe. They are not independent proof of market-wide policy terms, acceptance or a user’s rights. Articles name the source role beside the link.
- GOV.UK: Vehicle insurance — official guidance used for the general requirement to insure a vehicle driven on UK roads. Checked 8 October 2026.
- Quotezone: Van insurance — commercial comparison source used for its stated preparation, use, tools and policy-topic explanations. Checked 8 October 2026.
- Quotezone: Courier insurance — commercial comparison source used for its stated discussion of paid delivery and goods-in-transit questions. Checked 8 October 2026.
- Direct Line for Business: Van insurance — one insurer product source, used for its own examples of vehicle use, changes and comparison details. It is not a market-wide rule. Checked 8 October 2026.
- FCA: Financial promotions and adverts — regulator source used for the general requirement that financial promotions are clear, fair and not misleading. Checked 8 October 2026.
Editorial policy
Each guide has one primary question, a direct answer, scope, review date, source links, a fictional example and an action list. We do not publish invented customer stories, savings figures, expert endorsements, price averages, insurer rankings or guarantees. If source evidence cannot support a claim, the guide says to check with the provider rather than supplying a substitute conclusion.
We use the current date of our source review, not an invented legal effective date. Providers may change their documents, definitions, products and entry routes. Recheck the primary source and current paperwork before relying on a statement.
Contact and publication status
No public operator identity or contact channel has been approved for this public preview, so this page has no form, email address or telephone number. It is not a request to submit a complaint, claim, policy document or personal insurance facts.
Before a public release, the operator must confirm its identity, the scope of the Quotezone relationship, permitted promotional wording, privacy disclosures, image rights, accessibility and any relevant regulatory perimeter. The local `noindex` state does not prove publication compliance or access control.
